Emma Searle
BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy
Emma qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2002. She has worked in
Cambridgeshire and Suffolk in both the acute hospital setting and in the
comunity in an integrated health and social services team.
Within the acute hospital setting Emma has worked in orthopaedics, medicine,
neuro-rehabilitation, slow stream rehabilitation, stroke, oncology and hand
therapy. Her specialist interest is hand therapy, working with a wide variety
of clinical conditions including tendon and nerve repairs,
fractures/dislocations and burns. She has expereience working in an outpatient
service, setting home therapy programmes including exercises, oedema
management, scar management, pain management and splinting.
In the community her work has involved providing community based programmes
that prevent admission, facilitate discharge from hospital, support terminal
care at home, reduce dependency on care packages and maximise functional
ability. This includes carrying out activities such as rehabilitation, minor
and major adaptations, and assessment for more copmplex equipment and major
adaptations e.g. bath lifts, stair lifts, level access showers and through
floor lifts.
